Last weekend we went to Charlotte NC for a party for my brother inlaw that he is going in to the Army on Wednesday. So on t he way I took these photos not knowing it turn out so beautiful I just had to use them this week.

This photo I took two weeks ago. We were on the way home from the park I just had to take this photo it was so gorgeous you just had to be there.

I just love this photo of Pinky with her Pig Tales and with her tongue out is just too cute.

Mr Ac/Dc was showing me how he can make a funny face. I just loved this photo

Mr. Nascar’s adventures

Today, 2/17/09, Mr. Nascar will be starting the Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate (EMT-I) class. This is the second of the three levels of EMT in North Carolina with the first being Basic, and the third being Paramedic.

The class will run about 6 months with 4 months in a classroom and 2 months working in the Emergency Room and Robeson County EMS doing clinicals. Mr Nascar will have a blog entry every week to show what he has learned and what he saw while running rescue calls.

Last Saturday, Valentine’s Day, Mr. Nascar was sent out on two serious car crashes.

The first one took place on NC HWY 41 about 6 miles north of Lumberton. Initially it was paged as a Signal 29, bravo 1 which means car crash with injuries. after a few minutes went by and the first Fire dept members got to the scene the call was upgraded to a Signal 29, Delta-4 X 5. We now have a serious crash with 5 confirmed pin-ins. When people become pinned in there vehicle, it makes for a bad call because pinned patients equal bad trauma which means we have to hurry to free them from there vehicle and get them to the ER. This is the same protocol for all EMS systems around the world. When we got to the scene, there were two vehicles that hit head-on and two vehicles back behind them that were t-boned(side impact). While our Paramedics and Intermediates are in the vehicles starting I.V.s and taking vitals, My rescue team is busy using hydraulic tools to remove the roof and the door from the vehicle. Once patient access is open, we remove the patient and get them on the ambulance and get them on there way. On this scene, a helicopter from UNC-Chapel Hill was brought to the scene to get the worse of our 6 patients. The patient made it to Chapel Hill trauma center (Raleigh) but the extent of that persons injuries was to severe for any chance of survival and the patient later died.

All other patients were removed from there vehicles and transported to the local ER where all are expecting to recover. It was estimated the two vehicles that hit head-on were traveling over 60 MPH.

As the rescue wound down and all patients were on an ambulance, I was told that one of the Robeson County EMS ambulances needed a driver because both Paramedics were in the back with there patient. So I jumped in and off I went. I know the two medics in the back personally as I work with them both at my job at AMR. We ran emergency all the way in to the ER. Traffic was so heavy that day that I don’t think I got above 50 MPH in that ambulance and I had lights and siren on. At the hospital, we took our patient in and as we crossed the doorway, the pager went off again.

NOT AGAIN! I thought. So here we go again, I had no idea where my ambulance was as I came in on a RCEMS unit so I went out with them. When I got to the scene, I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was an ambulance involved that hit 2 other vehicles.

After we removed the patients and got them loaded, I returned to the Station with my rescue crew and that pretty much ended the day. But what a day it was.
